Wrongly declared: possible health risks for allergy sufferers
Vegan gravy - sounds suspicious in principle. As the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety and Unilever Deutschland Holding GmbH now report, a Knorr product was incorrectly labeled as vegan and is therefore being recalled.
It is the product "KNORR Fix for Sauerbraten" with the best-before dates at the end of December 2020, January 2021, February 2021 and March 2021. The products incorrectly labeled as vegan contain whey products and milk sugar and are therefore not suitable for a vegan diet. There is also a risk for people with allergies to milk protein.
Wrong logo printed
"Unfortunately, an error occurred during the last packaging change of our Knorr Fix product for Sauerbraten", Unilever Deutschland Holding GmbH announces in a customer information document about the recall. The product packaging was incorrectly awarded the EVU Vegan logo. However, the product contains animal milk proteins. This is correctly stated on the list of ingredients.
Safe for non-allergy sufferers
“There is a risk of an allergic reaction for consumers with milk protein allergy who only pay attention to the EVU Vegan logo and / or the vegan preparation recommendations before consuming the product,” warns Unilever. The products are therefore recalled for reasons of preventive consumer protection. Apart from this declaration error, the product is of good quality.
Report affected products to Unilever
According to Unilever, the affected products should not be returned to the shops. Instead, consumers who have discovered a faulty product should contact the toll-free number 0800/5858555 or the e-mail address [email protected] with the subject "Knorr Fix for Sauerbraten". According to Unilever, consumers receive compensation. (vb)
